Perence Shiri dies

LANDS, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement minister Perrance Shiri has died. He was 65 years old.
Shiri served in the Cabinet of Zimbabwe and was a member of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) until his death on the 29th July 2020.
Deputy minister of agriculture, Vangelis Haritatos, confirmed to state media (Zimpapers) that Shiri died early this morning.
“Sadly this is true. Hon. Minister Shiri passed on this morning,” he said.
The cause of death is yet to be ascertained or announced by the Government.
However, a few hours earlier, Shiri’s personal driver is said to have died of the COVID- 19 pandemic, before was admitted at a local health facility, hence he missed Cabinet and sadly passed away, early this morning.
There are 113 new cases and 112 of these are attributed to local transmission. The official tally is now 2 817.
Zimbabwe’s COVID- 19 cases have been worryingly on an upward trend, prompting the Government to introduce strict regulations to curb the pandemic.
