Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) global pastor and president, Matthew Ashimolowo says members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) trailed him in Zimbabwe to validate if his philanthropic activities were not politically motivated.
Ashimolowu’s church distributed thousands of food hampers, clothes and free medication to thousands of Zimbabweans that thronged KICC’s operation feed 5000 at Borrowdale race course.
Speaking at one of his sermons at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), Ashimolowo said the donations were sourced from members of his church in the United Kingdom (UK).
“We bought 8000 bags of food hampers to give away to Zimbabweans; we also came with large containers of clothes and hired 30 doctors and 30 nurses to attend to Zimbabweans free of charge. Furthermore, we had a medical dispensary worth over $50 000. We had members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) coming to see if it was real, I am sure they are satisfied that it was all real, and it was all paid for by members of KICC in the United Kingdom.” he said.
Ashimolowo’s message to Zimbabwe
Ashimolowu consoled Zimbabweans going through tough times owing to the continued economic decay. He however urged Zimbabweans to stretch out their faith from the withered economic situation and thrive inspite of the obtaining volatile environment.
Cheekily, he called on the country to look above to God and not abroad to other countries as other countries only come to plunder. Zimbabwe has been engaged in a robust international re-engagement exercise which aims to restore confidence in the country, particularly from embittered western nations. Prior to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ascension to power, departed president Robert Mugabe had been pursuing a ‘look east policy’ which was aimed at severing ties with western nations and replacing them with alternative allies like Russia and China.
In addition to the operation feed 5000 campaign, Ashimolowo held two services at HICC with entertainment being provided by Minister Micheal Mahendere of the ‘mumoyo’ fame and acclaimed worshipper, Takesure Zamar who swept the crowd of their feet with a polished performance.
