DESPITE the prevailing harsh economic conditions characterised by biting foreign currency shortage, rising rate of inflation which now exceeds 60% most local companies seem to have put that on the back burner and trouped to the ZITF to make their presence felt.
The companies have left no stone unturned as they race to outdo each other with eye-catching stands and pavilions that meet international standards.
Amongst the local companies participating that have erected gigantic stands include Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ), telecommunications giant Econet, Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ).
Organisers of the ZITF also had to avail additional space for the 2019 edition after its targeted space run out is another demonstration of how serious businesses regard the fair.
However, it is the telecoms companies that are likely to provide excitement for the multitude of people to grace the exhibition grounds.
In recent years the three mobile operators Telecel, Econet and NetOne have used trade exhibitions and expos to entice new subscribers as competition has heated in the sector.
The trio has been in an intense competition in recent years as they are forced to find innovative ways to survive owing to the advent of over the top services such as Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and We Chat which have curtailed revenue flow emanating from voice calls.
Without doubt the trio will once again offer an array of freebies especially on the last two days of the ZITF as it will be open to the public.
Competition will also be intense amongst Internet service providers who are likely to be out and about with exhibitors guaranteed of free internet access as players seek to entice new clientele.
Some of the internet service providers that have presence at the ZITF Include ZOL, TelOne and Powertel among many others.
The motoring industry will also see various brands seeking to outdoor each other in the various motor vehicle segments.
Some of the household motoring concerns that will be showcasing their products include ZIMOCO that has become synonymous with the luxurious Mercedes Benz model.
Other models that will be on showcase include Isuzu, Toyota and Nissan.
As per tradition government ministries and quasi government entities have a strong presence at the ZITF.
The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair is one of the largest intra-regional trade fair south of the Sahara. An annual exhibition which offers exposure to trade and public visitors, the multi-sectoral, multi-national expo provides a convenient trade hub for the region.
Its location in Bulawayo, the centre of Southern Africa, is at the crossroads of the regional trade and transportation routes.
