LEADING optical firm, Optinova Eye Care continues to stretch its muscles, offering cut edge optical services, as it opens up another branch at Sam Levi’s Village, Borrowdale, in Harare.
Celebrated eye specialist, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Doctor Solomon Guramatunhu, who is the founder of Optinova said the company offers cutting edge optical services, at affordable fees.
Optinova specializes in eye health, eye surgery, spectacles, contact lenses and accessories, with an overall aim to provide clients with tailor made services.
“We order our products directly from the source, as we don’t have a third party, as we directly import from Europe.
“Health is very critical to the socio-economic development of a country. A nation without a thriving health system cannot progress and eye care is very critical to the well-being of a person,” said the renowned eye specialist.
Optinova now has 10 branches, mainly in Harare, with prospects of covering all Provinces, while spreading across the border with Mozambique first.
However, Dr. Guramatunhu said the expansion drive would be determined by the country’s economic performance.
Optinova has a gender sensitive policy with women constituting a major component of its employment force.
The down to earth entrepreneur and renowned ophthalmologist, dubbed one of the richest persons in the country, but ironically, leading a normal life has made a name in philanthropic work.
Through Eyes for Africa, he has reached out to hundreds of disadvantaged people, performing eye surgery and restoring sight to many patients.
Dr. Guramatunhu charity is also assisting learners some of them studying at various universities abroad.
The immediate past Bindura State University Council chairperson has also registered a name in academic circles.
At the country’s premier higher learning institution, the University of Zimbabwe he is recognised for a sterling contribution to healthcare.
The higher education institution has since honoured the down to earth doctor by naming its Eye Care center after him (Solomon Guramatunhu Eye Center).
Under the guidance of Ms. Lorraine Sanyika, who is Optinova operations manager, the firm is earmarked to be the leading optical care center, not only in Zimbabwe, but the region, at large.
The company is also engaged in corporate social responsibility projects.
In previous years, Optinova embarked in free screening of eyesight for Harare commuter omnibus drivers, in a bid to reduce road traffic accidents.
