ZACC investigation reports nonsensical: Nzenza

By Natalie Chiwomadzi

PUBLIC Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza says Zimbabweans should refocus their energies on pertinent issues and restrain on dwelling on social media chatter.

This comes after social media messages alleged Nzenza has gone into hiding after Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) exhibited interest on investigating her in connection to the NSSA report which sucked in her predecessor Minister Prisca Mupfumira.

Speaking at a press conference, Nzenza said she is not aware of the investigations on her and dismissed the social media reports as nonsensical and time-consuming.

“I am not being investigated. As far as I know, no one is investigating me. I have absolutely nothing to hide.

“I am not dwelling on nonsensical stories, I have a mandate to deliver to the public and ensure that money entrusted to NSSA is managed properly within best governance practise,” she said.

Meanwhile, Minster Nzenza said that the NSSA Audit Report will be made public at the right time.

“I have not found any difficulty in making the report public, there are processes that must be followed when a report is initiated by the executive. The report also needs to be tabled not only to the public but to the parliament as well”, she said.

Furthermore, Nzenza revealed that some of the four key issues that emerge in the report have key irregularities that require expert lawyers to unpack thereby further extending the timeline of its publication.

“I did promise to parliament that I was going to present that report, however the time frame given was simply not possible because we needed to do the due diligence that was necessary in having on board the lawyers who would unpack it, so it took longer than I expected but it will be presented very soon”, said Nzenza.
