A 10 member delegation from China’s Zheing Zhiang Radio and TV Group is in the country to shoot a documentary video which they will use to market the country, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister has said.

The coming in of the delegation is a follow up to engagements made during last state visit to China by a high powered Zimbabwean delegation led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in April this year.

The documentary video will mainly focus on the major tourism products, investment opportunities available in the tourism sector and interview will be conducted with stakeholders.

Addressing the media, Minister Prisca Mupfumira said will be circulated widely in China as part of marketing the country as a tourist destination.

“The video will be played during the oncoming China-Africa Business Forum in the first weeks of September 2018 and several multi-media and social media platforms.

“Ladies and gentleman, the visit by Zheing Zhiang Radio and TV Group from China is of great importance to us as a country, as it, marks the implementation of our Memorandum of Understanding with Touchroad International Holdings Group,” she said.

Touchroad International Holdings Group sign a MOU with the government of Zimbabwe worthy US$1.2 billion which is expected to unlock investments in the Zimbabwean tourism and hospitality industry and contribute meaningfully towards national economic revival, growth and development of the country.

Minister Mupfumira added that Zimbabwe has a lot of natural resources which if adequately packaged and marketed will go a long way in improving the number of tourist arrivals.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the country is endowed with a lot of natural resources and potential sites of rich culture and heritage.

“These products, if strategically developed, competitively packaged and aggressively marketed will increase the length of stay, product portfolio and encourage geographical spread of tourism within the country,” said the minister.

Meanwhile, the tourism sector is on a rising trajectory owing to the peaceful transition to the new dispensation in November 2017 which changed the image and perception of the country.

According to statistics the country received a total of 2 422 930 tourist arrivals in the year 2017, which represents a 12 percent increase from the 2 167 686 tourists received in 2016.-
